A rare and stunning Art Deco demantoid garnet and diamond ‘salamander’ brooch. Mounted with an amazing collection of beautifully matched intense demantoid garnets, weighing in excess of 2.50 carats. The back vertebrae of the ‘salamander’ is mounted with a graduation of antique round brilliant cut diamonds and rose cut diamonds, estimated to weigh 0.75 carats in total. The body is wonderfully hand crafted in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum, with rich engraving and millegrain detailing to the setting edges and a pair of ‘pigeon blood’ red ruby eyes. This brooch measures just short of 2.5 inches in length.
