In-house exhibition of paintings by Beverly Hills artist Richard ‘Dick’ McKenzie. Son-in-law of Fred Astaire by his marriage to Ava Astaire, Richard’s own McKenzie Gallery in Los Angeles was patronised for a decade by leading Hollywood stars and his work was in the collection of Howard Hughes. Richard met Ava at an exhibition of his work in Raymond Burr’s gallery in Beverly Hills, he also taught art to many Hollywood personalities of the day. His paintings have not been seen on the market for many years. Richard also wrote a very amusing and revealing memoir, Turn Left at the Black Cow, tracing his extended family’s often hilarious odyssey from Beverly Hills to rural Ireland! Copies of his book will be available for purchase.
